Altynay Karimova

Graduate Research Fellow

Altynay Karimova is a PhD student in Communication at the University of Pittsburgh and a member of the Communication Technology Research Lab (CTRL). Her research examines computational propaganda, disinformation, and political communication, with a focus on how digital media technologies shape public opinion, particularly in non-democratic contexts. She holds an MS in International Journalism and has contributed to research on media narratives in non-democratic states as part of a collaborative research project between the University of Michigan and Indiana University. Originally from Almaty, Kazakhstan, she is fluent in Kazakh, Russian, and English.
