Zelly Martin

Research Fellow

Zelly Martin (Ph.D. University of Texas at Austin) is an Assistant Professor of Communication at the University of Tampa. She researches media technologies’ impacts on democracy and coalition-building. Particularly, her research examines disinformation, political propaganda, and democratic activism on emerging technologies through political communication and feminist frameworks. Her peer-reviewed work has been published in journals such as Big Data & Society, Information, Communication & Society, Social Media + Society, Political Research Quarterly, Journalism Studies, First Monday, Feminist Media Studies, Mobilization, and Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health. Her research has also appeared in Teen Vogue, Slate Future Tense, Rappler, Tech Policy Press, Centre for International Governance Innovation, Global Network on Extremism and Technology, and online at the Center for Media Engagement.
